We had an amazing time at the 2015 Fall STEM Launch event. Students from five CPS high schools (Corliss, Lake View, Marine Leadership Academy , Michele Clark, and Rickover Naval Academy) joined us at the newly named John T Rettaliata center to build and test trebuchets.

We started our event off with a lesson on the physics of trebuchet, with Michele Caporali, and an introduction to “Punkin Chunkin”. After the lesson we header over to our rooms and started the building. Each student built a trebuchet, then formed teams and tested them out. After the test runs, we went over to Ed Glancy field to watch the 11th annual Biomedical Engineering Society pumpkin launch and meet with students from the society.

It was great to welcome new and returning STEM Launch students to campus. We are looking forward to our next program in November. Stay posted for details!
