In the Career Services office, we are here to connect you with the tools you need to find jobs, internships, and other opportunities for your career development! Though we spend the majority of our time editing your resumes and teaching you how to ace your interviews, we are also invested in helping you to define your strengths and values as it concerns your career. Enter: Career Assessments.
Our career assessments are not like the ones you took in high school. They don’t tell you exactly what position or career path you should pursue. Instead, the career assessments we offer help you to gain a better understanding of (1) your talents and strengths (2) your interests (3) your work style and (4) your values surrounding work. Below, we have listed a few of the free assessments you have access to through our office as well as some ways to maximize your career assessment experience.
Strengths Quest
Employers value employees who have a strong sense of self awareness when it comes to their strengths and weaknesses. Strengths Quest is an assessment that focuses on highlighting your strengths when it comes to your career path. This information will be useful as it helps you to know what you bring to teams and what you can bring to the employers you want to work with. Strengths Quest will tell you your top 5 strengths while also giving you an overall profile of your talents and skills.
You Science
This assessment is MADE for those who enjoy thinking games. Whereas most career assessments tell you what you are good at- what talents and strengths you can bring into the workplace- this assessment tells you how you THINK and how you ACT. It, then, offers personalized advice about your career values and positive work environments that match your personality. Youscience will create a profile of your personality telling you how you process information, your personal and interpersonal approach to work, your time frame orientation and more.
YouMap! (Up & Coming)
You Map is an assessment that focuses on self discovery! It strives to connect you with “what you do best that others need most.” It gives you the self awareness you will need to properly sell your skills and knowledge base to employers. YouMap also offers a Strengths Quest top 5 strengths profile. This test is great for students who want a holistic look at who they are and what skills and talents they have to contribute.
