Public Crime Log. Week Ending September, 28, 2012

September 28th, 2012 Comments off

Hello All,

We are again experiencing an increase in bicycle thefts on campus.

Although IITPSD has increased their patrols, we are seeing that the majority of thefts are occurring as a result of the improper locking mechanism.

We are finding that students are using cable locks which can be easily cut.

We strongly urge all students to purchase a U-Lock. We have worked out a deal with the bookstore in that they will give you 20% of the price of the lock.

Please continue to be vigilant in securing and safeguarding your property while on and off campus.

Thank you and have a great weekend.

Public Crime Blog Week Ending September 14, 2012

Hello,

I hope all is well as the Fall semester is in full swing.

Although Public Safety made 3 apprehensions last week for bike thefts, additional thefts were reported.

The primary cause is utilizing the wrong locking device and the incorrect placement of the lock.

This will all be addressed at our Public Safety Forum on Tuesday, September 18, in the MTCC at 11am.

Lastly, despite what rumors you may have heard (if any), there was a reported theft at 7 Eleven early this morning.

It was a simple shoplifting incident which resulted in the successful apprehension and arrest of 3 individuals.

There were no injuries and no weapons were used.

Thank you and I look forward to seeing all of you at our Forum/

Have a safe weekend.
