On the agenda:

  • The Emergency Services IP Network (ESInet)
Demonstrations of two different failover techniques, end-to-end calls, and presentations that explain the call flows and architectures
  • Radio over IP
Demonstration of a call initiated on the ESInet that flows through to the radio-dispatched car. Presentation of lessons learned and next steps
  • Voice over IIT (VoIIT)
Calls to and from members of the audience accompanied by live traces; Presentation of the current architecture of this student built, SIP-based telecommunications system.
  • Voice and Video over Web (VVoW)
Demonstration of a web-based audio/video teleconference service developed at the school. Overview of the current architecture and next steps.
  • SIP Proxy Performance Benchmarks
Students are using the Mu-8000 Test Platform to test the performance of SIP proxies according IETF draft specifications. Demonstrations and status reports.
  • Real-Time Media Project
Students are building a database of traces and information documenting the methods used by UTube, Blackboard, Skype, Google Hangouts and other services that deliver real-time media. Many of these services use HTTP to transport streams of audio and video, avoiding the use of specialized VoIP Signaling protocols. The database supports research into the security and relative efficiency of the different methods.
