Revised forms from Undergraduate Academic Affairs

September 21st, 2020 Comments off

Academic Audit Request Form: An academic audit provides a summary of a student’s academic status to date and lists the courses to be completed in order to receive a degree. Students can request an official academic audit from the Office of Undergraduate Academic Affairs after they have earned a minimum of 60 semester hours including transfer credit (90 semester hours for Architecture students), and completed at least one semester at Illinois Tech. Audits typically take 7-10 business days to process, but may take longer depending on the time of the semester. https://iit.secure.force.com/form?formid=217960

Change of Major Request Form: A student who wishes to change or declare a major must complete a Change of Major form. The form will be sent to the department of the intended major for approval. Any change of major that is approved after the Add/Drop deadline will be processed for the following semester. https://iit.secure.force.com/form?formid=217961

Change of Status Request Form: Students changing from non-degree status to full-time or part-time degree-seeking status must submit this Change of Status form. Students must have completed at least one semester (12 hours) of relevant coursework at Illinois Tech and must be in good academic standing in order to be eligible for changing their status. https://iit.secure.force.com/form?formid=217962

Dual Degree/Double Major Request Form: Students who wish to earn two undergraduate degrees can declare a Dual Degree. Students working towards a Dual Degree must complete 15 hours above and beyond those required for their first degree. Upon graduating, the student will receive two diplomas.

Students who wish to earn two undergraduate degrees can declare a Double Major. This is different from the Dual Degree listed above. Only students majoring in Applied Analytics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Information Systems, Global Studies, Humanities, and Psychological Science are eligible to declare a Double Major, so this does not apply to students in our department. Upon graduating, the student will receive one diploma with both degrees posted.

The form will be sent to the department of the intended 2nd major for approval. Any Dual Degree or Double Major that is approved after the Add/Drop deadline will be processed for the following semester. https://iit.secure.force.com/form?formid=217963

Letter of Intent Request Form: Students in their last semester can request a Letter of Intent for prospective employers or graduate schools. The Letter of Intent will state that a student will graduate that semester upon successful completion of that semester’s coursework. https://iit.secure.force.com/form?formid=217966

Minor Request Form: A minor consists of at least five courses (minimum of 15 credit hours) not required for a degree program. Students who take the standard core curriculum’s distribution of courses may apply them toward the requirements of any approved minor. Note that not all minors are applicable to all majors. https://iit.secure.force.com/form?formid=217964

Reinstatement Application: All undergraduate students who were not in attendance for at least one semester must submit this application to return to the university. The deadlines for the application are June 15 for the Fall semester, November 15 for the Spring semester or April 15 for the Summer term. https://iit.secure.force.com/form?formid=217965

Transfer Credit Petition Form: An undergraduate student registered at Illinois Tech who wishes to enroll at another institution must submit a Transfer Credit Petition Form to the Office of Undergraduate Academic Affairs for approval prior to registration at the other institution. This includes registration at another institution for the summer term. Upon completion of the course, please have your official transcripts sent to Illinois Tech. https://iit.secure.force.com/form?formid=217932

ITM Curriculum Revisions Approved

March 27th, 2015 Comments off

Fall 2015 will bring some changes to the ITM curriculum. ITMD 461, Internet Technologies and Web Design will be replaced by ITMD 361, Fundamentals of Web Development. The content of the course is essentially unchanged, but the new title and course description reflects the fact that the extended discussions of Internet technologies and design that were originally included in the course are no longer covered.  The design component will move to another new course, ITMD 362, Human-Computer Interaction and Web Design, which will replace ITMD 434, Human-Computer Interaction. This restores the Web design component formerly included in ITMD 461, moves the HCI component formerly in ITMD 434 from a full semester to 9 weeks, and allows students to apply their new HCI knowledge through hands-on project-based learning. The first offering of ITMD 362 is planned for Spring 2016.

Additionally two new minors are offered in ITM to prepare students in other majors to be admitted to our graduate programs. The Information Technology Foundations minor prepares students to enter the Master of Information Technology and Management degree, and the Cyber Security Foundations minor will prepare students to enter the Master of Cyber Forensics and Security degree. The existing minor in Information System Administration has had a major revision to incorporate current courses and is now one of our strongest minors. Let your friends in other majors know about these!

See the Curriculum Revision document for full details!

2012-2014 Bulletins are Published Online

September 25th, 2012 Comments off

The new Undergraduate and Graduate Bulletins are now available online! The programs of study and requirements laid out in these books apply to all students who entered IIT for the first time in the fall of 2012. In addition, the revised specializations apply to all students in the program, as it is not uncommon that courses offered in previous versions of the specializations may no longer be available and the specializations in the new editions of the Bulletins are more flexible and offer students more options. By the way, the picture on the cover of the Undergraduate Bulletin is one of the most amazing pictures of the IIT campus and our place in Chicago that I have ever seen. Kudos and hats off to Carol Orze in Undergraduate Academic Affairs and Julia Chase in Graduate Academic Affairs for all of their hard work on these books.

PDF ITM Course Schedule

August 8th, 2012 Comments off

A PDF version of the ITM course schedule for Fall 2012 is available at http://www.itm.iit.edu/data/Fall2012ITMCourses.pdf. If you are having trouble finding ITM courses on the drop-down menus in MyIIT, see our previous blog entry that explains how it works. The only change is that ITM courses are now listed as “ITM” instead of “IT”.

An updated version of the course matrix, a visual representation of Fall ITM courses as they occur in the week, is available at  http://www.itm.iit.edu/data/ITM_Course_Schedule_Fall2012_matrix.pdf. There is also a full listing of courses offered by the ITM program along with the term in which they are normally offered at http://www.itm.iit.edu/data/CoursesInITM.pdf.

Finding Our Summer 2012 Course Offerings

April 25th, 2012 Comments off

Folks seem to be having trouble getting to the ITM summer course listings through MyIIT. If you go into MyIIT, select Look Up Classes, select Search By Term: Summer 2012, select Information Tech and Mgmt, and click on “Course Search”, it will then show you a list of ALL courses offered by the department, whether they are offered in the current term or not; it is NOT a list of courses offered this summer. If you select “Advanced Search” instead of  “Course Search”, than select Information Tech and Mgmt, then click on “Section Search”, then it will show you the full list of courses offered this summer. OR just to make your life easier, just see the following PDF file:  Information Technology and Management Summer 20912 Course Offerings
